Evolution of BOSSPORTS
- Summer 1993 -- Bob learns Microsoft Works, decides to take up sportswriting as a hobby after chat with brother
- Summer 1994 -- Bob begins first wave of sports articles; first piece is about the impending 1994 baseball strike; Bob writes about six articles, then temporarily ceases writing for about two years
- January 1, 1996 -- Bob gets home computer and first access to the Internet
- July 1996 -- Bob resumes sportswriting; writes game story on last Red Sox game before All-Star break where Mo Vaughn wins extra-inning game against Baltimore with three-run homer
- Fall 1996 -- Bob branches out and begins to write Patriot game stories in addition to Red Sox game stories
- Late fall 1996 -- With the prospect of Patriot head coach Bill Parcells leaving the team, Bob switches focus towards commentary articles, but keeps writing game stories as the Patriots headed into the playoffs
- January 1997 -- Bob combines commentary with game stories as the Patriots advance to Super Bowl XXXI; following the Super Bowl, Bob becomes completely commentary-oriented
- February 1997 -- Bob acquires a GeoCities website, names it "Best Of Boston Sports"
- March 1, 1997 -- Official launch date for "Best Of Boston Sports"
- Summer 1997 -- Bob discovers and joins John Bosco's Patriots e-mail list, and finds an audience for his Patriot articles; joining lists for other Boston sports teams soon followed
- Winter 1998 -- Website gets first major makeover, including logo change
- Summer 1998 -- Website moves from GeoCities to Tripod
- September 20, 1998 -- Website mentioned in article in The Hartford Courant
- November 1998 -- Bob writes a weekly online article for Patriots Football Weekly up to the end of the 1998 season
- December 1998 -- Domain name "bobgeorge.com" purchased, website moves to that address but keeps "Best Of Boston Sports" title
- Summer 1999 -- Bob joins forces with fellow Patriot fan site webmaster Ian Logue; the two collaborate on a new website named "patriots.rivals.com"; when Rivals goes out of business after the 2000 season, Logue maintains site on a personal level and renames it PatsFans.com; Bob maintains collaboration with Logue on new site
- September 21, 1999 -- Domain name changed to "bossports.com"; Website renamed "BOSSPORTS", including logo change and site makeover
- Fall 2001 -- Domain name changed to "bossports.net"; web hosting now based in Sacramento, California
- March 2003 -- Website undergoes another makeover to today's current look
Bob George -- Biography
- Born in 1958 in Worcester, Massachusetts, raised near Springfield
- Holds collegiate degrees from UMass Amherst and the University of Michigan
- Moved to Bakersfield, California in 1983; began teaching that fall
- Junior high school teacher since 1983 in Bakersfield and Kern County, California
- Married since 1989, three children
- Professional musician, with sports and computers as main hobbies
- First live Bruins game: 1981 (in Detroit)
- First live Celtics game: 1981 (in Pontiac, Michigan)
- First live Patriots game: 1972
- First live Red Sox game: 1968
